All students are required to take the three Background courses before moving on to the Polytheism courses, which form the core of the curriculum. You can find more information about the curriculum here.

Background [BGD]

BGD 101: Introduction to Loki. An introduction to Loki, the Norse trickster god, and what walking his path entails. Prerequisites: None. Credits: 3.

BGD 102: Loki’s Role in the Myths. A survey of the Norse myths and the role that Loki plays within them. Prerequisites: BGD 101. Credits: 3.

BGD 103: Loki’s Role in the Eddas. A survey of the Poetic and Prose Eddas and the role that Loki plays within them. Prerequisites: BGD 102. Credits: 3. 

Creative Projects [CRP]

CRP 101: Creating Altars. Create a personal altar for Loki. Prerequisites: BGD 101. Credits: 3.

CRP 102: Ritual Supplies. Create personal ritual supplies including god posts, ritual knives, wands, rune sets, and much more. Prerequisites: CRP 101. Credits: 3.

CRP 103: Ritual Cloths. Create personal ritual crafts out of cloth including altar cloths and ritual clothes. Prerequisites: CRP 101. Credits: 3.

Goði/Gyðja Academy Core [GAC]

GAC 301: The Goði/Gyðja. Students will learn about the Goði/Gyðja, including their place in society historically and their role today. Prerequisites: PTM 201. Credits: 3. 

GAC 302: On the Gods and their Priests. Students will learn how Goði/Gyðja interact with the Gods. Prerequisites: GAC 301. Credits: 3.

GAC 303: Ritual and Worship. An exploration of different types of rituals within Paganism, and how they apply to our practices. Prerequisites: GAC 302. Credits: 3.

History [HIS]

HIS101: Historical Survey of Loki. A historical and archaeological survey of Loki’s worship from the ancient world to present day. Prerequisites: BGD 103. Credits: 3.

  Media [MED]

MED 101: Loki in Fiction. A survey of the fiction where Loki is a prominent character and how those stories fit into Lokean practice. Prerequisites: BGD 101. Credits: 3.

MED 102: Loki in Films. A survey of the films where Loki is a prominent character and how those films fit into Lokean practice. Prerequisites: BGD 101. Credits: 3.

Polytheism [PTM]

PTM 101: Introduction to Devotional Polytheism. An introduction to Devotional Polytheism and how it differs from traditional Pagan practices. Prerequisites: BGD 103. Credits: 3.

PTM 102: Prayers and Offerings for Loki. A survey of prayers and offerings for Loki. Students will also learn how to create their own prayers and craft offerings. Prerequisites: PTM 101. Credits: 3.

PTM 103: Rituals for Loki. A survey of rituals for Loki. Students will also learn how to write and perform their own rituals for major holidays. Prerequisites: PTM 102. Credits: 3.

PTM 201: Lokean UPG. A survey of Lokean UPG (unverified personal gnosis). Students will also learn to write and perform meditative rituals to develop their own UPG of Loki. Prerequisites: PTM 103. Credits: 3.

PTM 202: Loki’s Functions. An in-depth look at Loki’s functionality. This includes an exploration of Loki as a trickster deity, a deity of fire, a sacrificial deity, and a deity of Wyrd (fate). Prerequisites: PTM 201. Credits: 3.

Runes [RNE]

RNE 101: Introduction to Runes. An introduction to runes and their history. Prerequisites: BGD 101. Credits: 3.

RNE 102: Rune Casting. Students will learn how to cast and interpret runes. Prerequisites: RNE 101. Credits: 3.

RNE 103: Rune Magic. Students will learn how to use runes for magic. Prerequisites: RNE 102. Credits: 3.

 Scholarly Exploration [SLY]

SLY 101: Alternative Interpretations of Loki. A survey of the alternative interpretations of Loki. This includes an exploration of Loki as the Norse devil, as an abusive deity, and as a potential literary device. This course is intended to expose students to the portrayals of Loki in the wider world so that they are equipped with the tools to defend against them. Prerequisites: PTM 202. Credits: 3.

SLY 102: Comparative Tricksters I. An examination of Loki next to other infamous trickster deities, such as Coyote, Hermes, Prometheus, and Lugh – among others. Prerequisites: PTM 202. Credits: 3.

SLY 103: Comparative Tricksters II. An examination of Loki next to other infamous trickster deities. Prerequisites: SLY 102. Credits: 3
